Should you get married at Canoe in Toronto?

Skyline views in a modern, elegant setting make Canoe one of the most popular restaurant wedding venues in the GTA. Hosted on the 54th floor of Toronto's TD Tower, couples looking for modern elegance with high-end cuisine should put Canoe on their shortlist.

Canoe Wedding Costs (updated 2025)

What does it cost to get married at Canoe? One couple paid $40K in September 2025 for 80 guests including food, bar, and miscellaneous fees. They selected the $180 menu option and upgraded wine service to a premium bottle.

On-season weddings (April - December)

Couples getting married between April - December select from the standard event menu. Canapes average $19 per person, and dinner options ranges from $130-$180 per plate. Late night food can be ordered per piece (budget for 2-3 pieces a person at $5-$7.5 a piece). For standing receptions, individual food stations range from $48-$82 per person. Coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic drinks are $4-$5 each.

Alcohol is consumption based. Wines average $60-$90 per bottle, beer ranges from $11-$15, and rail drinks start at $10 per ounce. Signature cocktails are $23 each. Overall, we recommend couples budget 5-6 drinks per "average" drinker for a 6 hour event, including wine service, which would net out to an estimated $90-$120 in alcohol per drinker - see this recent community discussion about budgeting for alcohol at Canoe!

Vendor meals are $55 per person and kids meals are $28-$32. Additional fees include an on-site ceremony fee ($400), building and security fee ($750), sound fees ($60-$90) and added costs for A/V, ceremony chairs, insurance, and additional set-up time.

What does this add up to?

$254-$349 per adult:

  • $19 in canapes
  • $130-$180 for dinner
  • $15 in late night good
  • $90-$120 in alcohol (standard bar)
  • $15 in non-alcoholic drinks

$43-$47 per child

  • $28-$32 for dinner
  • $15 in non-alcoholic drinks

$70 per on-site vendor

  • $55 for dinner
  • $15 in non-alcoholic drinks

Estimated $1,240 in added fees before adding in cake cutting, A/V, ceremony chairs, and insurance.

Total for 80 adults, 5 kids, and 2 vendors = $21,915 - $29,535 before gratuity (18%) and tax (13%).

For couples looking for a deal, Canoe offers a discounted winter wedding package for the months of Jan - March starting at $200 per person for 3 canapes, 1 starter choice, 2 entree choices, 1 dessert, 1 late night snack, and open bar. This package requires a minimum 80 guests.

Google Review Analysis

Here's our analysis of Google reviews for Canoe that have been posted since September 1, 2024 (we excluded any reviews older than this to keep the analysis recent and relevant!). Reviews are broken down by review positivity, mentions, and trends. Last updated September 2025. Note that the vast majority of reviews were left by restaurant guests who dined at Canoe outside of a wedding event.

Canoe in Toronto Google reviews:

I’d visited before while scouting out venues and was impressed right away — not just by the food, but by the view. Seeing the city during the day and again at night gave me a real appreciation for how stunning and dynamic the space is. May 2025 review: Gorgeous location, great food, and the service team are pros

"Loved the wedding i went to there! It was a Sunday wedding, ceremony was a little silly in that they split the room w audience on either side of the altar, but it felt like basically there was one real 'side' and the other side was overflow. i was on the good side so it didn't affect me much. food was great, came out in a good time, they are pros for a reason! i maybe thought it would be better than it was given canoe's reputation, but still tasty... would recommend! GORGEOUS location!" u/lilpay Reddit, May 2025

March 2025 review: Beautiful venue and food, recommends getting a day-of coordinator

"My BFF got married at Canoe a few years ago and the wedding was fantastic! Beautiful venue and great food! The only thing I do remember that she had her own wedding coordinator for the day because the set up time is very short so I would probably recommend that!" u/Available_Candy_9858 - Reddit, March 2025

Oct 2025 review: Great vegetarian options and hope for clear skies

“It was an excellent space, room for everything from the ceremony in the two connected private rooms to the cocktail hour around the bar to dinner along the huge windows with the fantastic view of the city and dancing on the raised area. Food was incredible, even the vegetarian options were a huge hit which is important to us. The service team was fantastic and no hiccups or issues anywhere from service, food, security, drinks, etc. People loved it and they still rave about our wedding almost 2 years later. It barely needed any decor and if it's clear enough to see the sunset, I'll be jealous of you as it was so cloudy and foggy for us haha. ” u/0102030405 - Reddit, Feb 2025

Jan 2025 review: Lovely view, great guest experience, but bar was very narrow

“It was not my wedding, but I attended one as a guest. The couple did their dance floor on the raised seating area in the dining room. It was nice and spacious. The only thing that was annoying was that the bar was in another room, so it was hard to keep the dancefloor going [...] Canoe was great! The view was lovely, it was fun as a guest to go to a fancy restaurant and the food was amazing. It was the only wedding I've been to where we ordered our dinner picks at the wedding once seated (like a restaurant), so that was novel. The ceremony space was lovely. We didn't love the cocktail hour. The bar space is very narrow, and we had to pick a spot and stick in it because it was tough to navigate the crowd [...] Overall, it was a really nice experience as a guest!” u/SufficientApricot313 - Reddit, Jan 2025

About Oliver and Bonacini Hospitality

Weddings at Canoe are run by Oliver and Bonacini Hospitality, a popular event group that manages weddings at many GTA venues (Auberge du Pommier, Malaparte, and Steam Whistle Roundhouse to name a few). Oliver and Bonacini are well respected as being professional planners who execute high-end events day in, and day out.

Pros:

  • Restaurant-quality food
  • Skyline views from the 54th floor
  • You can book the entire restaurant to yourself
  • Minimal additional decor is needed
  • Nearby Union GO for guests who take public transit
  • Assigned O&B event planners to manage the booking and planning process. Note that you are still recommended to hire a day-of coordinator to manage external vendors, such as flowers and decor set-up

Cons:

  • No included parking for weekend events
  • The restaurant has limited A/V equipment and does not have a sound system, which will be an added cost with your chosen DJ. Note that adding a sound system will alter the capacity of the venue.
  • Consumption-based alcohol for weddings outside of Jan-March (winter weddings have discounted package that includes an open bar)

Key Venue Details

Canoe is a high-end, modern restaurant on the top-floor of TD Tower - 54 stories high. Canoe is known for Canadian cuisine for intimate date nights or as a classy post-work drink spot. The restaurant is open Monday - Friday, which is why buy-out costs are significantly higher on weekdays ($55K) vs. weekends ($25K Saturday, $15K Sunday).

If you rent out the entire restaurant, you can choose to leverage the East or West room for your ceremony, or opt to have the ceremony in the main restaurant space. If you choose to use the main restaurant space, guests will be standing and/or sitting at their dinner tables. Worth noting: Canoe's bar area is narrow and results in a squeeze for larger parties - especially during cocktail hour.

For dancing, couples can use the raised area of the main restaurant. If you have over 90 guests, you will need to use this space for seating during dinner service and clear the area after to make a dance floor.

Capacity:

Full restaurant buy-outs can accommodate 135 seated or 202 standing guests. Otherwise, they have two smaller rooms - West Room (24 seated or standing) and East Room (30 seated, 36 standing) which can be combined if needed (54 seated, 60 standing. Note that adding A/V reduces max capacity to 48 guests).
